Ever dreamed of whipping up perfectly baked cakes and delicious pastries, all in the blink of an eye? While you may not be able to transform into a baking extraordinaire overnight, here are some tips that can definitely improve your baking game. These tips are quite simple and can take you a step or two closer to that perfect cake you dream of baking.
Tip 1: Always use ingredients at room temperature
This is one baking question I get asked very often and here’s what you need to know.
It is very important to ensure that all the ingredients like eggs, milk, and butter are at room temperature. If you have just taken them out of the refrigerator, make sure that you wait for a while before using them.
Or you can microwave your butter and dip your eggs in warm water for a few minutes. This will ensure that your mixture emulsifies, which is very important for baking.
Tip 2: Don’t keep the batter on the counter for too long
Once the cake batter has been whisked to perfection, it is a sin to leave it lying around. This is because the raising agent starts working as soon as it comes in contact with the wet ingredients.
Delaying the process of putting the batter inside the pre-heated oven will make your cake dense and will prevent it from rising perfectly.

Tip 3: Prepare your pans well
There is nothing worse than having to break a perfect cake just because it is stuck to the pan. To avoid this, make sure that you butter your pan well using a pastry brush.
Make sure that no corner is left un-buttered. After you dust the pan with cocoa powder or flour, don’t forget to tap out the excess. It is also a good idea to line your prepared pan with parchment paper.
Tip 4: Make sure the pan is placed correctly and
I am sure many of you did not know about this and it is something you would usually learn at the best bakery courses in Delhi but the position of your pan in the oven makes a whole lot of difference. So where you place the oven?
Well, stick right down the middle if you want your cake to be cooked evenly but do not just leave it there throughout the bake. You should constantly rotate your pan around for the best results.
Tip 5: Avoid opening oven door
I understand the urge and the excitement to keep opening the door of the oven and checking in on the cake but every time you open the door, you let out heat which can result in a cake that isn’t good all-around or sinks in the middle.
I know I mentioned you need to rotate the cake but that is only halfway through the bake. Checking of the baking process should only be done 2-3 times throughout the timespan.
Tip 6: Learn to be patient
A hot cake is extremely delicate and easy to break. Therefore, always be patient and let the cake rest in the pan until it has cooled down. It is recommended that you let it rest for at least 15 minutes before you remold it. After demolding it, let it rest on a cooling rack for another 10 minutes.
